Corey Harris, 44, was scheduled to attend the hearing for charges stemming from an earlier arrest in Pittsfield Township, just south of Ann Arbor.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jmGS0ZG2oS4&amp;t=15619s\">Video from the hearing<\/a> shows the moment when Harris joined the hearing, visibly behind the wheel of a car in motion. Michigan has a law on its books <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/msp\/divisions\/ohsp\/safety-programs\/distracted-driving\">prohibiting the use of cell phones<\/a> and other electronic devices while driving.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"newsletter_signup \">\n<figure class=\"embed embed--type-newsletter-widget embed--float-none embed--size-large embed--type-iframe\" data-ads=\"{\" wordcount=\"\">\n<\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Once Harris joined on Zoom, Judge J. Cedric Simpson immediately asked Harris if he was driving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActually, I\u2019m pulling into my doctor\u2019s office actually, so just give me one second. I\u2019m parking right now,\u201d Harris responded.<\/p>\n<p>As Harris continued to drive on camera, Simpson could be seen mouthing, \u201cWow.\u201d He then said, \u201cSo maybe I don\u2019t understand something. The defendant is to turn himself in at the Washtenaw County jail by 6 p.m. today.
